About the Club

The SVS Video Club is an award-winning group of young filmmakers that create films for competitions across the country. The club is open to both middle and high school students. Students are not required to have their own video equipment. The school provides all the necessary cameras, microphones, editing software, etc.

The Video Club is open to students in grades 6-12.  Students learn to write, produce and edit films for competitions across the country, including the "Connecticut Student Film Festival" and the "All American High School Festival."  The club meets weekly to write, produce and edit films.

Members of the SVS Video Club have won awards at multiple competitions, including:

  • White House Student Film Festival
  • Connecticut Student Film Festival
  • All American High School Festival
  • Envision Kindness Film Competition
  • Fox 61 Student News Program
When and Where

Thursday's in the TV studio from 2:30 - 4:00 during the fall and spring months, and periodically during high school lunch throughout the school year.

Student Dress Code

Students are required to dress in formal attire for festivals, but casual during weekly meetings. 

Volunteers Requested

Parent volunteers may be needed for some of the festivals.
